Toyota unveil second version of Gran Turismo FT-1 concept car

At the beginning of the year Toyota showed off a real-life build of the concept car designed for Gran Turismo 6. Now, they have refined and perfected the design in their second go at the Toyota FT-1 Gran Turismo concept car and boy is it beautiful.

The car was designed for ‘Vision Gran Turismo’ which sees real-world car manufacturers designing concept cars to be used in the game. When Toyota first showed off its FT-1 design rumors began to circulate that it was a prototype for the reboot of the Supra, a car which hasn’t seen production since 2002.
We recently reported on other entries to the project, including the Nissan Concept 2020 Vision GT and also the Mercedes AMG Vision GT.
Toyota failed to confirm the rumors but there are still a huge amount of fans with their fingers crossed. They say the new design is more “sophisticated” and “masculine”. The muscular design with its deeply sculpted intakes and outlets is certainly a head turner with Toyota adding that the “dramatic lines are seemingly shaped by the wind“.

From the start of the FT-1 project, we wanted the driver to have a feeling of flow while at the wheel – to be able to focus on the road and nothing else,” said Sellene Lee, the Calty creative designer who proposed both color concepts.
There’s no release on whether the car will see mass production or whether it is actually a prototype for the new Supra, but you can take it for a spin in Gran Turismo 6 when the downloadable content becomes available.
